Why I left The Associated Press after 30 years
It was my second year at West Virginia University when I walked into Dr. Robert Ours’ journalism class and there was an 800 number written on the board. Ours said it was for The Associated Press office in Charleston, which was seeking a student stringer to assist on coverage of Mountaineer sports.
