Basically, I’ve had so much going on personally that aside from the Dixon bombshell, I haven’t been “covering” motorsports in a true capacity the last month.

I am unexpectedly selling my house, I fell off a swivel stool and broke the radial head in my elbow, I had a moldy closet and a non-maintained chimney (still pissed about this one but forever grateful for Mike the Russian handyman, more on him later), and I’ve been juggling various future career opportunities while also trying to figure out where I’m going to live when this house closes at the end of the month.

With so many outside things happening for me, I’ve found that the longer you don’t have a regular presence inside the racing “bubble,” the further away you get from the day-to-day pearl-clutching dramas. It is odd because I’ve gone long stretches of being away from racing while covering the World Cup and the Olympics, but I guess because I was still “working” while at those long, far-away events, I still had an eye on motorsports.
